Five Reasons to Become a Window Film Installer

Next

Looking for an exciting change of pace? Tint shops across the nation are looking for reliable window film installers for auto, commercial and residential projects.

Here are five reasons to consider becoming a professional window film installer.

Reason No. 1: Join a Growing Industry as a Window Film Installer

The window film industry is growing, both for automotive and architectural window films markets. 3M™ Window Film is scientifically proven to improve customer’s lives by reducing glare, lowering heat and providing UV protection.

According to SEMA’s 2021 Market Report, the market has witnessed a 13 percent increase in automotive aftermarket body finishing products (including window film, graphics and wraps) between 2017 and 2021. In fact, physical locations of specialty retailers/installers are earning up 22 percent of the market share of the estimated $1.67 billion industry. People are seeing the value of window film on their auto and how it can improve their overall driving experience.

Meanwhile, architectural window film installation also is increasing as people understand how the films can reduce the heat and ultimately help lower a building’s overall carbon footprint. Rather than replacing current windows with the more modern and costly Low-E windows, companies and residential homeowners are turning to window film to improve the performance of their existing glass. Research firm IndustryARC is predicting the architectural window film market will reach up to 3.8 billion by 2026.

Reason No. 2: Job Satisfaction as a Window Film Installer

Ask anyone in the industry and they’ll tell you that there is a strong feeling of job satisfaction that comes with being a professional window film installer.

No day is the same and every project helps improve a customer’s life – whether it help block heat, add UV protection or reduce glare. For architectural window film installations, the project can reduce an entire building’s overall carbon footprint – which is good for the environment.

Jonathan Thompson is the managing partner of Sunsational Solutions, a 3M™ Prestige Dealer out of Austin, Texas. He wrote a blog for the International Window Film Association’s website in which he describes the job of a window film installer as “having passion.”

“Not every profession gives you that feeling of contributing to a building while also giving you a sense of ownership. This is a profession that gives you that satisfying ‘it’s finished’ feeling of completing a long task that most professions took weeks, months or even years to complete, but you have that feeling every day,” Jonathan wrote.

Reason No. 3: Plenty of Training Opportunities for Window Film Installers

Customers deserve the best when it comes to window tint installation. This is why Accent Distributing offers a variety of training courses for installers – from window film to decorative finishes.

Whether an installer is just starting out or has been installing for more than a decade, there is always something new to learn. During Accent Distributing’s training classes, installers will gain an in-depth knowledge about 3M’s scientifically proven solutions for automotive, residential and commercial customers. The curriculum includes both classroom and hands-on instructions and provides the newest, most innovative installation techniques.

Professional installers can test their knowledge during an annual competition hosted by the International Window Film Association. The annual International Window Film Conference & Tint-Off™Acc takes place each year and offers competitive rounds in window film installation (both building and auto) and architectural finishes.

Every job tends to come with its own set of tools and window film installation is no different. From scrapers and blades to squeegees and spray bottles, Accent Distributing’s online tool store has what every installer will need – no matter the job.

The tool store makes it easy to order – whether out in the field or in the office. Accent Distributing’s experienced staff can help a new installer pick out what he or she needs to start out.

Reason No. 5. Network with Other 3M Installers

The window film industry is a tight knit community made up of many family-owned tint shops (both large and small), distributors and manufacturers.

3M and Accent Distributing work diligently on connecting dealers so they have opportunities to network, share ideas and learn from one another. 3M™ Authorized Dealers gather at conferences and annual meetings. 3M also recognizes those dealers who have excelled through an annual awards program.

Becoming a professional installer allows you the opportunity to network with some of the brightest minds in the industry when you work with a 3M™ Authorized Dealer.
