(This article first appeared in the March 2019 issue of “Dealer E-News.”) Evans Dietz said that he got into the window film business backwards.

Rather than starting with auto film like many in their early beginnings, 27 years ago Evans started installing 3™ Window Film on commercial and residential buildings at the suggestion of one of his father’s employees. He later added automotive film, including PPF, to his array of services at D & D Sun Control, Inc.

Now, D & D Sun Control has grown to 18 employees and provides a variety of film and wrap services throughout Arkansas from the company’s location in Little Rock. He uses 3M products for his projects, including 3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes, 3M™ Window Film, 3M™ Scotchguard™ Paint Protection Film and more.

“Everyone knows 3M,” Evans said. “The reason that I have liked 3M – their products last and … I know they are innovative, so they are going to be on the cutting edge of technology.”

Early in his career, Evans received advice from seasoned window film veterans to carry 3M products because it was a recognizable brand that people knew and trusted. He has no regrets adopting 3M™ Window Film into his business strategy throughout the years. “I know 3M makes great products,” he said. “3M knows how to make things stick.”

Evans company has completed a variety of window film projects throughout the years for commercial and residential, including government facilities, retail centers, and more. The vehicle side of his house provides full-service window film services, including paint protection, vehicle wraps, and window film. Evans also operates a full-service graphic wrap company called Rolln’ Wrapz, in which he has transformed a variety of surfaces, from table tops to walls to tractor trailers for major chains.

Evans attributes the success of his business to providing top notch service and cultivating a relationship with his employees.

“Do what you say you are going to do, no matter what. There are always going to be circumstances,” Evans said as advice for beginning companies. “At the end of the day, I know I have done right by my customers. We go out of our way to take care of our customers.”

The pride Evans feels for his employees is apparent. He boasts about his installers, graphic designers, and office staff. Some of his employees have been with him more than 20 years. No single employee has been with him for less than a year. Longevity, he said, is important.

“We don’t have a lot of turnover,” Evans said. “They know they have a home here and I care about their kids just like my own.”
